Health Care for You and Your Family
NBME has a comprehensive health care program providing medical, prescription drug, vision, and dental coverage for employees and eligible dependents including same gender and opposite-gender Domestic Partners and the dependent child(ren) of a Domestic Partner. Employee contributions for participation are based on the coverage elected. Employee contributions for health insurance premiums are on a pre-tax basis. The health insurance coverage becomes effective the first of the month following or coinciding with the date of hire.
Medical benefits are provided through Personal Choice, a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). Personal Choice© provides coverage for preventive care, routine office visits, prescription drugs, vision care, specialist care, hospital care, diagnostic tests, x-rays, laboratory and medical tests.
Dental benefits are provided through United Concordia Companies, Inc. (UCCI). NBME offers a core dental option and an enhanced dental option to employees and their eligible dependents.

Retirement Income Plan
NBME provides a defined benefit retirement plan fully paid for by NBME. All employees twenty one years of age or older are eligible to participate in the plan after one year of credited service.

Staff are provided with a monthly benefit provided at normal retirement age (age 65) equal to 1.5% of the average highest consecutive sixty months earnings times the number of years of credited service. A participant who leaves the NBME prior to retirement may be entitled to a single lump sum distribution or a vested benefit according to a progressive vesting schedule based on the following: five years - 100%, four years - 75%, three years – 50%, and two years – 25%.
The NBME offers employees the opportunity to contribute to a qualified 401(k) savings plan. Staff are eligible to participate in the 401(k) immediately and are enrolled automatically with a three percent contribution deducted from their pay on a pre-tax basis beginning with the paycheck following or coinciding with the opening of an enrollment period. Enrollments in the 401(k) occur quarterly. The NBME will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% of your pay (for example: if you contribute 6% of your pay, NBME will contribute 3%). You are immediately vested in your own contributions. The Company Matching contributions follow a progressive vesting schedule: five years - 100%, four years - 75%, three years – 50%, and two years – 25%. The 401(k) plan is subject to the provisions of the Tax Code.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Health care and Dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are offered as a means of paying for health and dependent care expenses with pretax dollars.
Carebridge Employee Assistance Program and Work-Life Assistance Program
Through the Employee Assistance Program, Carebridge provides confidential, behavioral health care counseling for all employees and their dependent family members for stress-related issues, substance abuse issues, marital/relationship counseling, parenting issues, counseling for adolescents, and grief and loss counseling.
Through the Work-Life Assistance Program, Carebridge provides telephone assistance, referrals, and informational resources for: child care, elder care, school selection, school success consultation, college planning, adoption consultation, personal financial management (not investment) consultation, and retirement planning.
NBME provides an onsite fitness center to all authorized staff members.
Public Transportation and Parking Benefits
NBME provides a Public Transportation Benefit to those employees who use public transportation to and/or from work on a regular basis. Employees choosing to utilize this program receive RideECO Stored Value Card. RideECO can be used at all transit agencies in the Philadelphia region. These include SEPTA, PATCO, DART, NJ Transit and AMTRAK).
For those who drive to work, NBME provides parking at no cost to the employee.
NBME covers all employees through Workers' Compensation Insurance.
Disability Absence Benefits
NBME provides disability absence benefits to employees who are unable to work because of a qualifying disability due to injury or illness.
Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
NBME provides life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance effective the first of the month following or coinciding with the date of hire.
Supplemental Life Insurance Option
NBME provides the option to participate in a voluntary Supplemental Life Insurance.
Travel Accident Insurance
NBME provides additional accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage for all employees traveling on NBME business.
NBME encourages the ongoing professional development of its staff and annually budgets for in-house training programs, attendance at training seminars, as well as attendance at professional meetings and conferences. NBME also provides payment for approved memberships in professional associations.
The NBME Tuition Assistance Plan also encourages employees to develop their abilities through continuing education. After six months of employment, employees are eligible to apply for tuition assistance.
NBME provides assistance with health care or health insurance-related issues through Health Advocate. Health Advocate provides employees and extended family personal, confidential support when encountering problems or questions that arise when dealing with the health care system. Assistance includes help with claim and billing problems, scheduling specialized treatment and tests, treatment recommendations and much more.
